Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) under Title XVI of the Social Security Act. SSI payments are made to individuals (including children under age 18) who are disabled and have limited income and resources.

There are two basic categories under which a financially needy individual can receive SSI benefits on the basis of disability:

. an adult age 18 or over who is disabled; or

. a child (under age 18) who is disabled.

Treatment: Medical assistance - Excluded Income by federal mandate.
