Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is holding a public meeting in Rye, NH, at 6:00 p.m. on May 11, to discuss the Department’s investigation into a pediatric cancer cluster in the Seacoast. DHHS officials will present the findings of its investigation into whether any common exposures could have contributed to the cancer cluster.

The public meeting will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 6:00 pm at the Rye Junior High School Gymnasium, 501 Washington Road, Rye, NH 03870.

DHHS initially investigated potential clusters of two pediatric cancers – rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) and pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) – in five Seacoast towns. After DHHS released a report on the cancer cluster in February 2016, elected officials and the general public asked for additional investigation on whether any behavioral or environmental exposures were potential causes. The presentation during the public meeting will report out on the findings of this expanded investigation.

DHHS will publish the results of the additional investigation in a new report that will be available on the DHHS website by Friday, May 5. The new report and the initial report, 2016 Investigation of Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) Cases in the Rye Area, will be available at
