Concord, NH – "As part of the Department's focus on the State's mental health system and our commitment to meeting the needs of our residents, I have asked DHHS Deputy Commissioner Lori Shibinette to assume the position of Chief Executive Office of New Hampshire Hospital, effective October 20, 2017.

"After conducting a national search, it was apparent that Lori is uniquely suited to the position due to her experience in healthcare management, policy and innovation, as well as her clinical background. While Lori has successfully led several important initiatives in her time as Deputy Commissioner, she is the best candidate for this role. As the CEO and Administrator of Merrimack County Nursing Home, Lori was responsible for the management of a 290 bed nursing facility and a 29 bed assisted living facility, and a staff of more than 500 employees. As Deputy Commissioner of the Department, Lori has provided oversight and management of both the Glencliff Home and NH Hospital, including the implementation of the recommendations from an independent sentinel review panel.

"Lori has been an exceptional Deputy Commissioner. I have every confidence that she will bring her extensive skills to the CEO position at New Hampshire Hospital to continue to address pressing mental health needs. In her new role, Lori will also oversee the Glencliff Home and will remain a member of the Department's Executive Management Team.

"On behalf of the staff of the Department and of New Hampshire Hospital, I also wish to express my deep appreciation to Don Shumway, who has been serving on an interim basis and who unselfishly gave of his time and experience to manage New Hampshire Hospital during a period of transition. Don's wisdom and capability has left an indelible mark on DHHS through his years of service.

"In anticipation of Lori's appointment as CEO, I am working with Governor Sununu to identify a potential new Deputy Commissioner of DHHS."
