SNAP Employment & Training (E&T) is a voluntary work program with a simple mission: to provide high quality job training, education and support to improve the economic mobility of every participant.

Program Services

Community Referrals, Education and Training

Our goal is to connect you with services that will help you: access supports to overcome barriers; earn credentials by furthering your education; and connect you with training to prepare you with the necessary skills to successfully gain employment.

Resume Review and Preparation

We will review your resume, sample application, and cover letter and offer recommendations for improvement. If you do not have a resume, we can work together to build one.

Case Management

We are committed to helping you reach your employment goals through advocacy, assessment, planning, communication, education, and access to resources to address your needs.

Support Services

Reimbursements are available for miles traveled for job searching or training purposes while enrolled in the SNAP E&T program. Funds are subject to availability. Proper documentation is required.

Eligibility Requirements

If you are receiving SNAP in New Hampshire and not receiving money from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, you may be eligible to participate in SNAP E&T. Speak with an employment counselor by phone or email to determine eligibility and enroll.

How can I find out where to apply for SNAP?

There are two ways to apply for SNAP in New Hampshire:

How often do I need to make contact with SNAP Employment & Training to remain a participant?

Contact with your employment counselor is required on a monthly basis, however, to meet the varying needs of our participants, our team would be happy to meet with you more frequently, if needed. If we do not hear from you within a 90-day period, your participation in our voluntary program will end. However, you can re-enroll in the SNAP Employment & Training Program at any time if you meet the eligibility requirements.

Do I need to show evidence of my job searching actions?

While we encourage participants who are job searching to make approximately six contacts per week, we do not require evidence of your job searching actions at this time.

I already have a job. Can I participate in the SNAP Employment & Training Program?

There are many ways to participate in the SNAP Employment & Training Program! As long as you are receiving SNAP, and are not receiving Family Assistance Program (FAP), Interim Disabled Parent (IDP), or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits, you may be eligible to participate in the SNAP Employment & Training Program.

How can I get help paying for child care while I attend a training course or while job searching?

The NH Childcare scholarship program was developed specifically to help parents who are working, looking for work, or in a training program. SNAP Employment & Training participants who require dependent care can apply for the NH Child Care Scholarship by:

Downloading and submitting the paper application.

Are reimbursements available for participants enrolled in SNAP E&T?

Reimbursements are available for some expenses while enrolled in SNAP E&T. Currently, New Hampshire offers reimbursement of mileage paid at $0.30 per mile, as well as reimbursements of bus passes or ride-share services such as Uber, Lyft or Taxi, while a participant is enrolled in a training program or is job searching. Proper documentation of the expense on the SNAP E&T activity log is required.
