NH HIV Planning Group
The New Hampshire HIV Planning Group (NH HPG) is a statewide group of people working together to prevent new HIV cases and provide quality care for people living with HIV.
Mission
The mission of the NH HPG is to promote and develop strategies enhancing seamless access to integrated services for the residents of New Hampshire.
History
The NH HPG was first organized as a HIV Prevention Community Planning Group in 1994.
As the HIV epidemic changed, so did HIV prevention planning, growing into HIV planning which includes both HIV prevention and HIV care services.
This combined effort allows the NH HPG to effectively serve NH residents while working towards meeting the National HIV/AIDS Strategy.
In 2019, these efforts changed with the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative, and increased the scope to include viral hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), substance use disorders, mental health and holistic care (or providing medical care to the whole person, not one specific issue). This allowed for increased cross-cutting work while reducing duplicated efforts and increasing collaborations that may not have existed before.
The Future
The NH HPG is focused on developing and promoting strategies to increase the quality of life for NH residents.
As a result, supporting education on current HIV and related issues is emphasized.
It is our belief increased education about all HIV - related issues will result in positive outcomes for people living with HIV and related issues in New Hampshire.
