715.05 NSWF Amount (FAM)

SR 11-08 Dated 10/11

Previous Policy

___________________________________________________________

The standard monthly NSWF amount is calculated by dividing the total amount of NSWF funding for a fiscal year by the number of current NSWF-eligible households and, if needed, rounding that figure down to the nearest dollar.

Exceptions: If the Department determines that the number of NSWF-eligible households has increased so much that it would deplete NSWF funding before the end of the fiscal year, the Department will recalculate the standard monthly NSWF amount by:

• lowering the calculated amount above to a figure determined to prevent funding from being exhausted before the end of the fiscal year; and

• raising the number of the required work hours described in Section 715.03, NSWF Eligibility Requirements, to a higher number of required hours, if the reduced standard monthly NSWF benefit, as described above, would still deplete the NSWF funding before the end of the fiscal year, or if the reduced NSWF amount is so low that it would offer no benefit to a family. This increased number of work hours, used as a new NSWF eligibility requirement, will reduce the number of NSWF-eligible SNAP recipients, but will allow the NSWF funding to continue to provide benefits until the end of the fiscal year in an amount that is beneficial to a family.

The $10 minimum FANF grant amount, per PART 613, ROUNDING PROCEDURES, does not apply to NSWF.
