At initial application and at least every 12 months for recertification, the household must participate in an in-person, phone or video interview (video is only available for recertification).

 

Interviews are official and confidential discussions regarding an individual’s household circumstances. During the interview the following will occur:

       An evaluation of all available information, including any existing case record;

       Resolution of  any unclear or incomplete information;

       An individual’s rights and responsibilities are provided and reviewed; and

       Individuals are provided information about program policies and procedures.

 

An interview will be conducted prior to each initial certification and each recertification of eligibility.

 

Interview an authorized representative if the individual cannot participate in the interview because of age, incapacity, illness, transportation difficulties, employment, language barriers, or similar reasons.

 

Exceptions:

    Cases eligible for recertification via the mail-in or an online recertification process are not required to participate in an interview, however one must be granted if it is requested. DHHS, may also require an interview as a result of reported changes or the discovery of conflicting information regarding eligibility criteria.(See PART 161, RECERTIFICATION and Section 161.01, Timely Notice); or

    No interview is required at recertification for households who have no earned income and all adult members are elderly or disabled, provided the household meets all other recertification requirements.
