627 ALLOCATION OF INCOME (MAM)

Allow recipients of financial or medical assistance to allocate a portion of their income. Allocated income is considered an allowable income deduction when determining eligibility.

Exception: Allocated income is not considered an allowable deduction when determining eligibility for nursing facility cases. Allocated income is only recognized as a deduction when determining cost of care.

. a dependent (parent, child, spouse), provided the individual:

- is not institutionalized, or

- is institutionalized with no community spouse.

. a community spouse, provided the individual:

- is likely to be institutionalized for 30 consecutive days or more.

. a dependent who resides with the community spouse, provided the individual:

- is likely to be institutionalized for 30 consecutive days or more.

. meet expenses incurred the month the individual enters or leaves a nursing facility.

. maintain the home, while in a nursing facility, provided:

- the stay is temporary (3 months or less), and

- the individual is expected to return to the home.
