Supplemental Food for Seniors

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a nutrition program that provides free food and nutrition information to promote good health for Seniors age 60 and over.

Income guidelines for seniors 60 years and older are 130% of poverty guidelines, and change every year in April.

Foods provided on CSFP change monthly, and usually include the following food items:

  • Canned vegetables
  • Cereal
  • Cheese
  • Fruits
  • Juice
  • Meat
  • Milk
  • Pasta

Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

CSFP seniors 60 years and older are eligible to receive fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables from NH farmers during July and August. Bags or boxes of fresh produce are distributed at more than 70 CSFP clinic locations throughout the State.

CSFP agencies provide recipes, cookbooks, and nutrition information for seniors and families on how to prepare the foods, as well as information for seniors with special dietary needs.

The Food and Nutrition Service, USDA, provides the following 130% Income Poverty Guidelines, effective February 8, 2024 to June 30, 2025:

  • Congregate meals services are offered in a variety of settings. They are funded by the Older Americans Act along with other related nutrition services.   • Home delivered meals services provide nutritious meals along with nutrition and health information. These meals may be the first in-home service that an older adult receives, and the program serves as a primary access point for other home and community-based services.   • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Monthly allotment to purchase food at grocery stores, farmers markets, online, and other approved retailers for income-eligible households. To apply, go to NH EASY or call Client Services at 1-603-271-9700

  • The Emergency Food Assistance Program - Provides perishable and non-perishable foods to NH food pantries, soup kitchens and other access points across the state.
