Environmental Health and You

Environmental health focuses on the relationships between people and their environment, where they live, learn, work, and play. It promotes human health and well-being, and fosters healthy and safe communities.

The food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breathe, the products we use, and the conditions in which we live, learn, work, and play affect our health. The mission of Environmental Health Programs is to collaboratively prevent illness, injury or disease that may be caused by hazards in our surroundings, both natural and human-made, and to reduce or eliminate harmful exposures. We do this by applying sound science and regulation to assess and minimize risk. We provide data, information and education about health and the environment. We offer a variety of programs, all designed to protect people and provide communities with healthier environments.
