Visitors to NHH

Visitors are welcome at New Hampshire Hospital, Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) building.

Please read the following guidelines before you arrive. If you have any questions or require special assistance during your visit, please call (603) 271-5300.

When You Visit

Visits are by appointment only.  There are some important necessary restrictions in place to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff.  The following guidelines are required to coordinate a visit with your loved one:

  • Visitations will be held on from Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Visitations must be scheduled in advance.  Unfortunately, unannounced visits are not possible. 
  • To schedule a visitation, please contact the New Hampshire Hospital Social Worker assigned to your loved one's treatment team by 3:00 p.m. of the business day before the visit. 
  • If you do not have the contact information for the assigned Social Worker, please call (603) 271-5300.
  • There is a two-visitor limit per patient per visit. 
  • Visitors are restricted to bringing photo identification only, except for certain holidays (such as Christmas, Hanukkah, birthdays, etc.), when gifts may be shared with patients.  Gifts must be limited to one gift bag containing new, sealed, and unwrapped gifts.  If you have questions about a particular holiday, please contact the assigned Social Worker. 
  • Other than stated in the point above, visitors will not be able to bring packages, food, and other personal items into the hospital. 
  • Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to visit patient care units. 
  • For the safety of our patients and staff all visitors will be required to go through the walk-through metal detector upon entering the building.  All carried items will be subject to search. 
  • Visitors must present a photo identification (driver's license, non-driver's license, school ID, etc.) and will be issued a visitor identification badge. 

Restrictions

NH Hospital is a Smoke Free facility and we do not allow smoking on the grounds.

The use of cameras or camera phones for the purpose of taking photographs is prohibited, and any audio or video recordings are not allowed.

Alcoholic beverages of any kind, illegal or over-the-counter medications and anything that could be used as a weapon is prohibited.

Please do not bring any items made of glass, ceramic or metal, with sharp edges, matches, lighters, cutting implements such as knives scissors, nail clippers, disposable razors or blades, or any other article that may be dangerous to patients. These items will be turned over to State Office Complex Police as contraband.

Directions

From Interstate 93, north or south, take Interstate 89 north to Clinton Street, exit 2, Turn right onto Clinton Street.  The main entrance to the hospital is the first left after the second traffic light and before the Concord District Court.
