Children with Special Health Care Needs

Services for children with special health care needs

The Bureau for Family Centered Services (BFCS) administers services for children birth to 21 who have, or are at risk of, a chronic medical condition, disability or special health care need and their families. BFCS provides leadership in building and promoting community based systems of care and services that are family centered, comprehensive, coordinated and culturally competent.

Children with special health care needs are those who have, or are at increased risk for, chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional conditions, which require health and related services of a type beyond that required by children generally. The Bureau for Family Centered Services helps NH families and professionals with health information, care coordination, family support and offers specialty services and financial assistance for eligible children.
