Data Requests

Health Statistics & Informatics provides data request services for all parties interested in the public health data in their stewardship. Requests are generally classified as non-confidential analysis, confidential record level data sets and confidential analysis. Different forms must be submitted to request data or analyses depending upon the request type.

Non-Confidential Analysis

Health Statistics & Informatics will perform analysis when results contain no directly confidential identifying information and no information that could be used to indirectly or constructively identify an individual. Non-confidential analysis of data for areas smaller than counties can result in small numbers that must be suppressed. The Guidelines for the Release of Public Health Data provide information about how confidentiality is determined. The Non-Confidential Data Analysis Request Form must be submitted to Health Statistics & Informatics for all data requests.

Confidential Record Level Data Sets and Confidential Analysis

Health Statistics & Informatics will provide access to confidential data to qualified researchers demonstrating a direct and tangible non-commercial health related interest. Health Statistics & Informatics will perform preprocessing of large data sets to provide data of interest to a researcher. Approval to receive or use confidential data requires a request to Health Statistics & Informatics as well as approval by the Health Data Review Committee. Upon request and approval, Health Statistics & Informatics will also perform analyses that result in confidential tabular information (no cell suppression). A Confidential Data Request Form and a Data Use Agreement must be submitted to Health Statistics & Informatics to request confidential record level data or analyses.

The below links provide access to fillable Word and PDF versions of the current Application for Access to Confidential Vital Records Data for Health-related Research; Application for Access to Confidential New Hampshire PRAMS Data; and the State of NH Department of Health and Human Service's Data Use Agreement. Data requests must be submitted using these applications and the Data Use Agreement. Previous versions of the application will no longer be accepted.

Available Data
The Health Statistics & Informatics Available Data Sources lists the data sets to which Health Statistics & Informatics has access for analysis. For all data sets, Health Statistics & Informatics will provide access to confidential data only to qualified researchers demonstrating a direct and tangible interest.
